What Are Coco Coir Discs?
Coco discs are compressed discs of coir pith that expand into a clean, uniform plug when watered. They give nurseries and growers a consistent, ready-to-use medium for seed starting, germination and rooting cuttings, with none of the variability of loose soil.
Because each disc is identical, propagation results are uniform across a whole tray or batch.
Sizes
Discs are available from 60 mm up to 150 mm in diameter. A 60 mm disc expands to roughly 250 ml, while a 150 mm disc reaches about 1,500 ml. They are supplied at an electrical conductivity below 0.5 (1:3 ratio), pH 6–7 and moisture around 20%.
Disc diameter is selected to match the seed or cutting and the propagation tray.
Applications
Coco discs are used for seed germination, transplanting and rooting cuttings in nursery and propagation systems. The expanded plug holds moisture evenly around the root zone while staying open enough for healthy oxygenation, and the clean medium reduces the risk of soil-borne disease at the vulnerable seedling stage.
They suit both commercial propagation and controlled-environment growers.
Export Documentation and Compliance
Coir-based growing media are classed internationally as products of plant origin, so shipments are prepared to meet the biosecurity requirements of the destination country (for example USDA-APHIS, the EU and Australian authorities). Each consignment is accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate and the required fumigation or heat treatment.
Every shipment includes a certificate of analysis covering EC, pH and moisture, along with commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and bill of lading.
