India's Yellow Maize Production
India produces 30–35 million tonnes of maize annually, making it one of Asia's major producers. The primary growing states are Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar and Maharashtra. India's maize is predominantly yellow dent corn with excellent starch content, suitable for animal feed formulation, wet milling for starch and glucose production, and dry milling for grits and meal.
Export demand for Indian maize has grown significantly with increasing poultry and aquaculture feed production in Vietnam, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Applications
Animal Feed — Primary use globally. High metabolisable energy (3,300+ kcal/kg) and digestible starch make yellow maize ideal for poultry, swine and aquaculture feed formulation.
Starch Industry — Wet milling for glucose syrup, modified starch, dextrose and ethanol.
Food — Grits and meal for human consumption in Africa and South America.
