Three Forms — Slices, Flakes, Powder

All three come from the same dried ginger rhizome. Buyers who extract or grind at destination take slices or flakes; buyers needing ready-to-use material take powder.

Typical Specifications

Volatile oil is the parameter that actually tracks aroma and pungency — it is a more meaningful quality indicator for ginger than appearance alone.

On specifications: the figures above reflect standard industry specifications for this product. Your actual batch values are confirmed on a NABL-accredited Certificate of Analysis issued against your specific lot — provided with every shipment, and with sample orders before you commit to bulk. We do not ask buyers to take a specification on trust.

Buyer Questions

What is the difference between sliced, split and powdered dried ginger?

Sliced ginger is cut into thin cross-sections before drying and is used directly in teas, infusions and culinary preparations. Split or flake ginger is broken into pieces, which speeds drying and makes it easier to grind at destination or use for extraction. Powder is milled to 60 to 100 mesh for food manufacturing, spice blending and beverage flavouring.

Why does volatile oil content matter for dried ginger?

Volatile oil is the parameter most closely linked to the aroma and pungency buyers actually pay for. Typical dried ginger carries 1.5 to 2.5 percent volatile oil. Appearance alone tells you very little about how the product will perform in your application, which is why volatile oil should appear on your Certificate of Analysis.

What HS code applies to dried ginger?

Dried ginger neither crushed nor ground, including whole, split and sliced forms, is exported from India under HS Code 0910.11. Ginger that has been crushed or ground, including ginger powder, falls under HS Code 0910.12. We declare the correct code on all shipping documents.

Can gingerol and shogaol content be tested?

Yes, by HPLC on request. This is normally specified by nutraceutical and pharmaceutical buyers who need standardised active content rather than culinary-grade material. State the requirement at enquiry stage so the correct grade is selected and the test is booked with the lot.

What testing is required for the EU?

A full pesticide residue screen against EU Maximum Residue Limits under EC 396/2005, plus microbiology confirming Salmonella absent in 25g. Ginger powder and sliced ginger are the forms most commonly shipped to the EU for beverage and food manufacturing.

Can I get a sample with a COA before bulk?

Yes. Sample orders carry the same NABL-accredited Certificate of Analysis standard as bulk shipments, so you can verify moisture, volatile oil, microbiology and pesticide results before committing.
