Unjha — The Global Cumin Capital
Unjha in Gujarat's Mehsana district is the world's largest cumin trading market — handling over 60% of India's entire cumin production and a significant share of global cumin trade. The Unjha market sets the international price benchmark for cumin, making it the reference for traders in London, Dubai, Rotterdam and New York.
Indian cumin's competitive advantage comes from its superior volatile oil content — 2.5–4% vs 1.5–2.5% for Turkish or Syrian origin — which translates to more intense flavour and aroma per kilogram, making it the premium choice for European food manufacturers, seasoning companies and pharmaceutical extractors.
Grades Available
European Quality (EQ) — Premium export grade. Stricter limits on foreign matter, immature seeds and ash content. Minimum 2.5% volatile oil. Preferred by EU spice companies and pharmaceutical buyers.
Singapore Quality (SQ) — Standard commercial grade. Competitive pricing for food manufacturing applications in Asia and Middle East.
Organic Cumin — USDA NOP and EU Organic certified from Rajasthan origin.
EU MRL Compliance
All European-bound cumin shipments are tested for a full EU pesticide screen including chlorpyrifos, profenofos and other key compounds per EC Regulation 396/2005. Test reports from NABL-accredited labs are provided as standard.
