Coriander seed trades in two commercial types distinguished by seed size and shape. They serve different applications and are priced differently, so specify which you need rather than ordering "coriander seed" generically.
Grinders and blenders generally take scooter type, since seed appearance is irrelevant once milled and the price is more favourable. Eagle is specified where whole seed will be visible in the finished product.

What is the difference between eagle and scooter coriander?
Eagle is the larger, oval, bolder seed, specified where whole coriander will be visible in the finished product such as retail whole spice and pickling. Scooter is smaller and rounder, and is what grinders and blenders normally buy since seed appearance is irrelevant once milled and the price is more favourable.
What volatile oil content should coriander seed have?
Typically 0.3 to 0.5 percent. Volatile oil determines aroma strength in the finished product, which matters most to grinders and extraction buyers. Culinary buyers of whole seed rarely specify it, but if aroma intensity is commercially material to you, state a minimum on the contract and request the result on the COA.
What purity level should I specify for coriander?
Commercial grades run from 99 percent to sortex-cleaned 99.5 percent. If you intend to use the seed without further cleaning, specify the sortex grade. If you operate your own cleaning line, a standard machine-cleaned grade is usually more economical.
What HS code applies to coriander seeds?
Coriander seeds neither crushed nor ground are exported from India under HS Code 0909.21. Crushed or ground coriander, including powder, falls under HS Code 0909.22. We declare the correct code on all shipping documents.
Is steam sterilised coriander available?
Yes, on request. Steam sterilisation reduces microbial load without the residues associated with chemical treatment and is frequently required by EU and US food manufacturers. Specify it at enquiry stage as it affects processing route and cost.
Can I get a sample with a COA before bulk?
Yes. Sample orders carry the same NABL-accredited Certificate of Analysis standard as bulk shipments, so you can verify purity, volatile oil, microbiology and pesticide results against your own requirements before committing.
