What Is Coir Mulch?
Coir mulch is loose coir-pith and fibre material applied as a surface layer around plants. It suppresses weeds, slows evaporation to retain soil moisture and breaks down naturally over time to improve soil structure. As a renewable, biodegradable material it is widely used in landscaping and horticulture.
Unlike synthetic mulches it leaves no residue, conditioning the soil as it decomposes.
Formats and Specifications
Loose coir mulch is supplied in 5 L and 10 L bag formats. A 5 L bag holds approximately 2 kg in a 20 × 30 × 10 cm pack, supplied at an electrical conductivity below 2 (1:5 ratio), pH 6–7 and moisture below 20%.
Pack size and volume can be configured for retail or bulk landscaping supply.
Applications
Coir mulch is used for moisture conservation in ornamental beds, around shrubs and trees, and in water-efficient cultivation where reducing evaporation is critical. Its open fibre structure lets water and air through to the soil while shading the surface to limit weed germination.
It is equally suited to commercial landscaping and retail garden supply.
Export Documentation and Compliance
Coir-based growing media are classed internationally as products of plant origin, so shipments are prepared to meet the biosecurity requirements of the destination country (for example USDA-APHIS, the EU and Australian authorities). Each consignment is accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate and the required fumigation or heat treatment.
Every shipment includes a certificate of analysis covering EC, pH and moisture, along with commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and bill of lading.
