India's Casting Industry
India is the world's second-largest metal casting producer after China, manufacturing over 10 million tonnes annually from 4,500+ foundries. Indian foundries supply castings to global automotive OEMs (engine blocks, cylinder heads, brake drums, wheel hubs), agricultural equipment manufacturers (tractor components, implement housings), industrial pump and valve manufacturers, and construction equipment producers.
Indian foundries have invested significantly in automated moulding lines, induction melting furnaces with precise temperature control, and modern sand preparation and reclamation systems. Quality systems are increasingly aligned to IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards to meet export customer requirements.
Casting Processes Available
Green Sand Casting — Most versatile and cost-effective for medium to large castings (5kg to 5000kg). CI, SG Iron and steel.
CO2/No-Bake Sand Casting — For complex cores, high-dimensional accuracy. Used for hydraulic valve bodies, pump casings, gear housings.
Investment (Lost Wax) Casting — Near-net-shape, excellent surface finish Ra 1.6-3.2. For small, complex precision parts (0.05kg to 20kg). Stainless steel, tool steel, aluminium, titanium.
Aluminium Die Casting — High volume, thin-wall, near-net-shape. Automotive housings, electronics enclosures.
Forging Capabilities
Closed-die steel forgings from 0.1kg to 500kg for high-strength structural components — crankshafts, connecting rods, wheel flanges, axle shafts, gear blanks and suspension components. Ring rolling for seamless rings used in bearings, flanges and pressure vessel components.
